Peggy Shepard

This is a portrait of another notable environmentalist named Peggy Shepard.  She has been a huge advocate for reducing air pollution in urban New York City.  Her organization WE ACT for Environmental Justice is helping to create a healthier environment amongst the urban population.
      This is the last final illustration that I plan to make for a while.  I am dedicating at least the next 4.75 years of my life to the study of classical drawing and painting and plan to pursue an illustration career after my atelier education is complete.  I am currently working on my portfolio for application to The Grand Central Academy of Art and will remain focused on the study of classical drawing and painting until my atelier training is completed. This is the method that trained the artists that I admire and I must focus on the technical skills that are most essential to the creation of effective traditional art.

Notable Environmentalists

Lately I have been working on a series of notable environmentalists.  Here is a portrait of Dr. David Suzuki.  Dr. David Suzuki is a Canadian environmentalist who has been a huge advocate for stopping the XL pipeline from being built.  Past oil spills have affected the wildlife that surrounds pipelines.  Here Dr. David Suzuki holds an otter that could be endangered by the XL pipeline.  His benevolent smile is a reassuring sign that he is happy to protect the wildlife of Canada.  I referenced photographs found on Flickr as well as some of my own references for this piece

Here is a portrait of Dr. Jane Lubchenco.  Dr. Jane Lubchenco is the head of the NOAA( National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).  She has been working to find out the best ways for the U.S to react to the climate changes in the waterways. I referenced photographs found on Flickr as well as my own references for this piece.

Here are the other two pieces I made for my senior thesis. A mock brochure cover for The Alliance for Excellent Education and a mock magazine advertisement for Cheltenham Academics.

Mock Scholastic Poster

This semester I focused my senior thesis on advertisements for different reading organizations. This Scholastic poster was for their "Read Every Day. Lead A Better Life" campaign. I made a couple different reproductions of it. I used a photograph to reproduce what I painted for the first two. I scanned sections of the painting and pieced them together in photoshop for the other two.

Chierology- the study of hands

The assignment was to give reference to a theme in the news through an illustration of an Poe story. This one was about animal abuse being referenced through the story of the black cat.

Rockwell copy and a drawing of my dog Cookie

I went to San Diego California last week to visit my friend and teacher Pose 2 aka. Maxx Moses. It was a good trip. I got to meet tons of great people who make art and was able to get exposed to new art galleries and museums. Plus I got to take a graffiti workshop.
The piece I posted is a collaboration I worked on with Pose during the trip. I only painted the pink stuff he did everything else. I used Rockwell paintings as reference for the forms.

well... I kind of lost interest in this painting about midway so I don't plan on finishing it.

I've been to the Rockwell show in D.C twice so far and I was amazed. Since photography is not allowed in the exhibition I tried to make sketches. The one above does no justice to Rockwell but I did learn much from studying it. If you really want to see his application you should go to the show.
